Nicholus Willick Family

Nicholus Willick was the third son of Nicholus and Anna Marie Willig. Son Nicholus' first wife was Esther (Saylor?).  Esther was born in Canada in 1819. They are listed in the 1851 Census as Evangelical Associated Methodists.  Nicholus remarried to Fredrica Plyley. Fredrica was born in Ontario in 1838 and died on June 17, 1915 at 76 years of age.

Nicholus died on March 15, 1894 at the age of 78.  Records show that he was buried in the Presbyterian Graveyard, Chippawa, Ontario, Canada.  His name and death date are also shown on the headstone with his second wife Fredrica, who is buried in the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Chippawa, Ontario, Canada.

There are no surviving children from either marriage.

An issue of the Welland Tribune from February 1872 has coverage of a Willoughby Township council meeting. Nicholus Willick was one of the councillors in 1872. The article describes the councillors as "all German and good honest-dealing square men and exceedingly cautious withal".

Their discussions were carried on in the German language and they had a slight advantage over Reeve Marshall, who could not understand a word they said. They discussed a report suggesting moving the Registrar's Office. Mr Snider, also a councillor, was in faour of adopting the report. Mr Willick, bowever, was not prepared to act on the matter until he had investigated further. He was in facour of the removal, but feared expenditure.

This article also mentions that along with Martin Waite, Mr. Crowmiller, Peter NIgh, Joseph Myers, Chris Dell, and Michael Sauer, John Willick was appointed poundskeeper.
